Hey guys,

Season 2009 has concluded and what a year it's been.  With the release of Street Fighter IV and Blazblue, the inclusion of Soul Calibur 4 and our annual event BAM coming to fruition it's been a cracker of a year.  That said we're definately looking for helping hands and suggestions for next year.

Please use this thread to tell us what you think worked and what you want to see different!

The projector that made a guest appearence at BAM and Final round was great.
Definately something that should be used again. I've noticed usually in the SF4 finals how we all crowd around a spectators TV, sometimes there just isnt enough room for everyone which is where the projector would be nice.

I'm all for helping out next year Smiley

I think the timing of the 3D fighting game tourneys worked quiet well because none of them seemed to clash. With SC there was rarely a wait for 2 opponents to come in and play their match so that worked quiet well.

I think at BAM SB having the huge open space but all other games having the tight in space was a pain personally but I don't see how that could have been avoided.

Oh and Calibur will definitely be represented at every ranbat next year

We're pushing to have projectors be a main feature for CW over time, and hopefully make the setups work better (convent doesnt work best with projectors).  We aim to have all major games feature on projectors for BAM 2010, which will hopefully include the 3D fighters if everything works out well.

also, sort out those tekkan thieves

also, couch warriors should host like an "open day" monthly
use funds saved up to pay for venue, free entry etc
advertise it HUUUUGE, hundreds of noobs come for free sf4 and smash etc

Tekken thieves?

A free event with a different focus sounds like an interesting idea.  We'll have to weigh up the pros and cons, but we'll consider it for our first event next year.

I would like to personally say about the location and how it's always in East Victoria (I started in Aug) I was wondering if CW can vary in location in both sides of Victoria. I don't think this idea will be feasible nor popular with other CW regulars but I thought I would throw it out there since it usually takes 1.5 hours+ for me to make the trip.

Other wise, good job guys.

Tekken theives?  Sad

I agree with Borgieman in terms of regulating the location. A more central location would probably be a good idea.

In terms of projectors, will they be a secondary display for the audience while still having the lagless TVs for normal play? I only say this because projectors are known to lag. Being a tekken player I know that even the most finite bit of lag can put a player off and make the game feel slow. I don't play much other games but i'm sure this also would apply for SF4 and a few others.

Oh and if you need anything for Tekken next year, i'll be sure to provide and also do the organising if you still want me to do it. I can, with confidence, say that more of the tekken community can bring some gear down too.

Projectors are always used purely for audiences, while players use the screens.  The signal is split to both regardless of SD/HD.

East Victoria? Like Lakes Entrance? We could try and put on an event in Horsham or Shepparton if that's more convenient? :S
But jokes aside, Abbotsford is less than 4km from the city centre, two suburbs out at the most, it's very very difficult to get a venue that is both affordable (so we don't have to charge you all through the nose to attend), suitable for our purposes, and available on a regular basis.
It's not in anyones best interests to tour the event around the outer suburbs as it just moves the inconvenience on to everyone at varying times and makes it difficult to know what to expect in terms of the venue.
Anyway, we try to stay as central as possible and we are currently looking for a new venue because the convent is too difficult for us to get on a regular basis, so if you have any suggestions that aren't in Bumfuck Montmorency or Werribee then please feel free to share them.

Cheers man, we'll definitely be getting in touch with you before the new season starts to spearhead the Tekken initiative.

Is even a slightly earlier start possible? Due to the inclusion of a lot more people and some new games being thrown into the lineup, plus with the smash side of things having both Melee and Brawl running all through the year.

The venue is fine seriously, very spacious and central so if you don't like it then try and orginise your own tourneys in the eastren areas as well (not having a go at you Borgieman, it is actually a suggestion). Also a return of the Egames "office" aka garage would be awesome as well, but i suppose only for smaller tourneys due to the mass turnout you guys are gonna have next year (TEKKEN THIEVES STEALING OUR GARAGE =P)

It's not.  Some religious types have the building til 12.

I'm seriously over convent.  I like the space we have, but it's not worth heaving TVs the length of the property for, something that many probably wouldn't consider.

Needs more of Play-Asia irl trolling everybody.

Or, y'know, somebody hypnotize Engared into thinking every game is Soul Calibur and give him a microphone. That would work too.

Lol, i can try. Though ill need to play alot more of the 2D games in order for me to be competent at that. But i think i can give the 3D games a good shot.

But yeah we should have a commentator on the matches we film, makes it alot more entertaining for the people who watch our videos. And yeah, @spoony- you better work on your sophie!
