(Our forum software needs an update, doesn't support embedding, but big thanks to Just-S for the teaser)

BAM2010
That's right, Melbourne's biggest fighting game tournament is back and better than ever, we've stepped it up this year and have an even better venue just blocks from the location of last years event. We'll also have a longer schedule with the possibility of additional games and side-tournaments.
We hope to see you there because this year it's going to be huge.

Date
October 2nd and 3rd, 2010

Venue
Event Room 2: CQ, 123 Queen Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

CQ is located at the very centre of Melbourne's CBD. It is approximately a 5 minute walk from Flinders Street Station and a 10 minute walk from Southern Cross Station.

Website: http://www.cqmelbourne.com.au/index.html

Accommodation
We have organised an accommodation discount with the venue, so you can stay upstairs from the tournament, and simply (shower and then) roll on down in the morning to continue the action.
Prices are: $139 a night for a Superior Room (normal price $159)
$159 a night for a Deluxe Room (normal price $179)
Both rooms can include two king sized beds and thus can be shared
Brochure here (see page 5): http://www.cqmelbourne.com.au/downloads/Citiclub_hotel_kit0909.pdf
To get the discounted rate, simply state when booking that you are attending for BAM and they will ensure you get the lower rate accordingly.

This place is a little more upmarket than last years, so I believe the rates are a little bit higher. The venue however is very central, so if you wish to opt for a cheaper option many other hotels and backpackers are within easy walking distance. Even last years venue is only 5-10 minutes walk away.

Official Games
Super Street Fighter IV Singles and Teams (Xbox 360)
Street Fighter III: Third Strike (PS2)
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (PS3)
Tekken 6 (PS3)
Soul Calibur IV (PS3)
Virtua Fighter IV (Xbox 360)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)
Super Smash Bros. Melee (GCN)
Marvel vs Capcom 3 (TBA)

Registration
Registration is now live, check out the website for more details!
http://bam.couchwarriors.org/

Price
$25 pre-registration or $30 at the door
Each official tournament has it's own entrance fee as posted on the site: http://bam.couchwarriors.org/

More Details
Check out the website for everything you need: http://bam.couchwarriors.org/

And most of all...
Get Hype.

It's over 3 months away, clearly you can save $25 in that time for the biggest event of the year? :S

Personally, regarding the 6th game, I'd like for it to be SCIV. Sure, the scene is kinda dead, but it's very recently dead. and I think that between the Melbourne guys who we can hopefully get out for BAM, and the Syndey guys, many of whom are coming down for BB:CS anyway (to my understanding), we will have enough good players to make it worthwhile, and I think this will be the last chance for a serious SCIV tournament, so I think it would be v. cool for it to go out with BAM and not a whimper.

When it says "which should also accommodate players of Tekken 6, Virtua Fighter 5 and Soul Calibur IV with an official tournament" does that mean they all get official tourneys as long as someone shows interest in running them and brings the gear?"

"regarding the 6th game, I'd like for it to be SCIV" kinda makes it sound like there's only room for 1 official 3d game.

If the SC4 scene continues to not run at CW then I'm not sure it's such a good idea to run a tourney for it at BAM just because some Sydney players will be there. If nobody has the drive to play it now, what's the quality of play going to be like in a few months time?.

I kinda thought there was no tourney last ranbat because it was the end of the uni term, but maybe they're just over the game now?, at any rate better talk to Ian before discussing whether or not having a SC4 tourney at BAM is worthwhile or not.

Well done on the announcement of BAM year 2!  The new venue looks great, guys.

I will again be supporting and hosting a Virtua Fighter 5 tournament.  Of course, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring to say as the longest running of the 3d games at couchwarriors currently, it would be nice to have "official" status but I'll seek strong support regardless.

As always, am definitely behind more communities, particularly my companions in the less represented 3D games to all step up and help each other.  SC4 and Tekken guys you have my support.

Borgie, I hear the call on DOA4, I'll look into brushing off the cobwebs on this old favourite.

For fun tournament ideas, I want to do an Iron Man/Ultimate gamer competition for players to enter and play a variety of games, possibly a different game every bracket of the tournament, or a random game each match?! Dare we try something like this?  Could be fun.

Beyond all this, there are new fighting games on the way; it would be good to talk to the local distributors about sneak previews for promotional support.  Food for thought!

Please remind me on Saturday, I want to chat with a bunch of you 3D guys and see what your intentions are for BAM, I have no issue implementing the full 3D stream of the timetable and making everything official, I just need to know the support will be there.

Fantastic, could you perhaps clarify your Iron Man/Ultimate Gamer comp?

SC4 group is inactive at the moment, but I spoke to Ian and he wants to try and get some action going after he comes back late July.  Whether SC4 runs depends completely on whether he wants to run it or not.  Other games in this iffy situation I'd probably say not to bother, but Ian has put a huge amount of work into their scene over the last year and it deserves to be acknowledged.
