CouchWarriors Crossup – Results, Photos

Over 500 attendees participated in the inaugural CouchWarriors Crossup esports event, combining our traditional end of year community ranking battle across a wide range of fighting games, and special events. For the first time, we were pleased to host a Saga event for the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour with international pro talent, and a surge of new players for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, alongside free events for Splatoon 2 and preview of Dead or Alive 6.

Results

Dragon Ball FighterZ (78 entrants): Japanese Champion Kazunoko takes his 4th Saga event title. Top Australian results – Falco (Adelaide) 9th, Baxter (Brisbane) 13th, Dailo (Sydney) 13th, and MajinBeng (Melbourne) 13th.

The final match was a heartbreaker for 2nd place Tachikawa (JP) who came so close, and the anguish of the loss is evident in the series of shots shown here.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate (154 entrants): Long running Smash 4 champion DS Extra has on of the closest grand finals he’s faced, with Melbourne regular Ignis making his first grand final and pushing hard with a bracket reset and just going down 3-2.

Full results as reported internationally on Shoryuken and detailed on our Smash.gg listing

If you are interested in running a bracket for any game for future events, please feel free to let us know and volunteer!

Gfinity Elite Series SFV Players at Battle Arena Melbourne 10.

The upcoming GFINITY Elite Series will feature a large selection of Street Fighter V players from the community. With BAM10 as the major fighting game event in the calendar year just finished, it’s a great opportunity to look at how these players finished up. How will this latest ranking of the top SFV players in the country play out when the teams face off at Elite Series in the coming weeks?  Their placement at BAM10 will be a good gauge!

The Chiefs main Squad

At the moment, it looks like Chiefs are in the box seat, with the only two Australian players to make top 8 against fierce local and international competition both in that team. In fact, Somniac, as top placer via tiebreak with Bksama, won a trip to Vegas as our EVO representative.

Watch the winning moment: https://clips.twitch.tv/BlazingSmoothLapwingPJSalt

However, a few close calls in pools and previous tournaments suggests some upsets from the likes of ROF and TravisStyles are certainly possible.

Check out all of the players and their teams that came to BAM 10.

BAM10 – Results

What a huge weekend it was at the Melbourne Convention Centre for Battle Arena Melbourne 10!  The CouchWarriors team is incredibly proud of the event and pleased to see so many people had a great time.  With over 2,000 attendees including tons of international star players and commentators, Tekken World Tour, Capcom Pro Tour, the biggest Smash tournaments in the southern hemisphere and the first Dragon Ball FighterZ major in the region among many Spectator friendly activities and preview games, it was an awesome event.

Not to mention, the special prize for three players who now are heading to EVO! From the community buzz and smiling faces at the afterparty, it looks like everyone had a great time, which is the number one thing for us.

Photography, replays and more are to come, but for now, here are the top results across each tournament as found in Smash.GG/BAM10
