Press Release
International stars will play shoulder to shoulder with local heroes at Melbourne Convention Centre this May on the 12th to 14th.
Battle Arena Melbourne (BAM), Australia’s largest fighting game major, and one of the biggest live esports in ANZ, returns for its 9th annual event on May 12-14. Now taking on two bays in the Melbourne Convention Centre to offer both a community experience and a major esports festival – this year is BIG BAM!
With Australia and the world’s best players playing across 8 national championship titles including Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, Super Smash Bros, and multiple side events, BAM is aiming for a third consecutive year of record breaking attendance. The event will host over 1,000 competitors, plus spectators taking in the excitement live, and hundreds of thousands more viewing from home on Twitch.tv.
Across two massive stages, CouchWarriors will proudly feature tournaments across both Super Smash Brothers Melee and Smash 4.
The amazing growth in the Smash community sees its epicentre at BAM. The top Australian players will face off, where you will see the best of the best facing off in the biggest tournament this side of the equator.
Smash 4 will feature International guests, the first challenger is SoCal USA’s Nakat, with more to be announced.
Two mighty World Champions of Street Fighter have been confirmed. Both Daigo and Infiltration will be at #BAM9!
Will you be there?
Daigo Umehara also known as The Beast is a multiple title fighting game champion. He won two consecutive EVO World Championships in Street Fighter IV, and famed for this video, EVO Moment 37.
Lee Seon-woo aka Infiltration burst on to the scene during Street Fighter IV and his powerful, methodical play and ability to “download” an opponent’s playstyle and overcome them has led him to dominance and is the first Street Fighter V EVO World Champion. [Video]

UPDATE: The international champions are coming! Already confirmed are Daigo, Inflitration and Xian.
