Christian “ORDER|ROF” Dedalija may have barely a quarter of the BAM Path to EVO points that Xavier “DS|Somniac” Nardella can boast, but he was on a mission to change that this weekend. ROF blitzed the field and bopped Somniac twice along the way, sending a clear message to his VIC rival.

Wade “Willing Foe” Ballantyne made a big run after being 2-0’d in Winners Quarters. Not only did he avenge his upper bracket loss in the Losers Final against Michael “GodlyEffect” Wright, but he then whitewashed Kim “Happy” Nguyen in Grands to make it back-to-back ranbat wins.

Melbourne Esports Open returns with the CouchWarriors Fighting Game Stage

We’re returning to Melbourne Esports Open to bring fighting games to #MEO2019! Catch all the action on the CouchWarriors Fighting Game Stage as part of this major esports festival! MEO is coming up on August 31 to September 1

Five fighting games. $1,000 Base Prize Pool Each.

Compete in Street Fighter V,  Dragon Ball FighterZ, Tekken 7, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Super Smash Bros Melee. Melee has an extra $500 thanks to Melbourne Melee, and Dragon Ball has something extra special!

The biggest fighting game tournament in the world is this weekend! EVO 2019 in Las Vegas will draw players from across the globe, including players from Australia and New Zealand. Read on to follow who will be going and the event schedule.

Proudly sponsored by CouchWarriors’ BAM Path To EVO program, three players achieved ANZ champion status at BAM11 this year. As a result their flights and accommodation is taken care of and they have arrived to make their mark at EVO!

Super Smash Bros Smash Ultimate Winner: Bradley Defective Dagger Kun 

Defective Dagger defeated previous Smash Ultimate champion Extra, a changing of the guard moment

Tekken winner: Daniel “Wowzer” Collington 

Wowzer in Tekken is a young player from NZ who in his first major tournament, fought his way through the ANZ special knockout event to win.

Street Fighter V winner: Travis Styles

 

Travis is a top SFV player but couldn’t attend the eastern states events to earn points. He claimed his spot as the top player in the main BAM tournament itself and won through.

CouchWarriors QLD is running an egg-citing new major, Sunny Side Up!

Brisbane has been lacking a major FGC national event for some time now and thanks to the Couchwarriors team in Brisbane we will finally have a national series grace the sunshine state once again!

Sunny Side Up will be the 2nd fighting game major that Couchwarriors has run this year with BAM11 having being the largest open entry esports event in Australia once again breaking its own record and Couchwarriors Crossup being planned for a sequel later on in the year.

Sunny Side Up is being held at the University of Queensland on the 10th and 11th of August with Australia’s best players gearing up to make the journey to Brisbane, it is expected to be a thrilling weekend of pure FGC action.

Sunny Side Up will earn double points in the second installment of the BAM Path to EVO series! This series finale of the first iteration of the Path to EVO series saw three players win trips to compete at Evolution 2019 in Las Vegas! Registration for all Platinum level tournaments and Smash titles ends July 31st!

You will need to show a valid form of ID (PayPal Receipt / Smash.GG Account / License) when speaking with the TO’s to pick up your pass.

BAM Path To EVO Season 2! Ranking League updates with MK11, Double Points Majors and More.

After a successful Season 1, finding champion ANZ players to send to EVO, the world’s biggest tournament, CouchWarriors have announced the BAM Path to EVO Season 2

This special Ranking Series ties across the community monthly RanBat tournaments across Australia and New Zealand, and in regular online events. Gathering these points lets us find the top players across the region, award prize, and provide a free trip to CouchWarriors Crossup at end of year.

Every month as events conclude you can follow the player rankings on a central points ladder. The ladder can be found at BamPathtoEvo.com.au

Each event is live streamed and featured in Twitch.TV front page promotion in ANZ.

Now, as BAM11 has wrapped, we’re resetting the points, adding a NEW game in MK11, and kicking off a new season!

Season 2 Changes

BAM Path To EVO Season 2 will use the same points system, with a twist for upcoming majors, and provide players a set of goals for the second half of 2019.  This Season will lead into our end of year finals event, CouchWarriors Crossup (CWC).

CWC in turn will be the curtain raiser for the next phase, leading to BAM and EVO in 2020.
