CouchWarriors League 2024 is just over the horizon, but the MASSIVE launch of the long-awaited Tekken 8 demands our attention – and all of yours!
We’re hosting our inaugural tournament for the latest installment of this juggernaut 3D fighter franchise at the long weekend RMIT Game Day, sporting a $250 prize bonus and all the hype that a brand new game has to offer!
It’s that very special time of year again, one we’ve all been looking forward to for months. A chance to celebrate with friends and loved ones, to look back on the year’s efforts, and then to top it all off with a huge day of fighting game tournaments. That’s right, CouchWarriors Crossupreturns in a new one-day format to close out 2023!
This event will also be the CouchWarriorsLeague Winter Season Finale, where our best players land their final blows in the struggle for leaderboard supremacy. There will also be plenty of side-game tournaments, the launch of a Guilty Gear card game, and the CW Community Awards presentation! Read on for the dates and sign-up links for all of December’s #CWLeague events.
By far the biggest month on the back half of our 2023 calendar, October brings us two massive spectacles across its first two weekends. First up, CouchWarriors will once again be representing the FGC at PAX Australia, running tournaments and friendlies out of the console gaming area all weekend!
While PAX AUS isn’t a CWL ranking event, our other marquee event will absolutely make an impact on our seasonal leaderboards. The Big Cheese 4 is the most important opportunity for our elite players since Battle Arena Melbourne – and as always, the chance to redefine the state vs. state pecking order will be a strong motivator.
The logjam of special events means that our regular ranbat schedule is subject to change – read on for the dates and sign-up links for all of September’s #CWLeague events.
With next month’s Big Cheese 4 looming as a major shakeup of the CouchWarriors League ladder, September’s ranking events will be an important warmup and scouting opportunity for top players across our featured games.
The Tekken scene in particular will have a great chance to measure the form of interstate rivals in this month’s CWL Online bracket. We’re also excited to look outside our CWL featured games and put on several prize-supported tournaments for the Brawlhalla community! That’s just a taste of the action on offer though – read on for the dates and sign-up links for all of September’s #CWLeague events.
August looks to be an intriguing month around the CouchWarriors League, as many players return from a post-BAM hiatus to once again focus on tournament competition. The Street Fighter 6 metagame continues to mature, and barring significant patches this month’s ranbats should tell us a lot about who currently has a claim to being Australia’s best player.
Meanwhile, this month’s CWL Online bracket offers the Smash scene as a chance to scout interstate matchups ahead of the Big Cheese major – as well as a big chunk of points. That’s just a taste of the action on offer though – read on for the dates and sign-up links for all of August’s #CWLeague events.
Our first CouchWarriors League circuit for 2023 concluded in epic fashion at Battle Arena Melbourne 13, crowning national champions for your favourite fighting games in front of a raucous crowd. But with the book now closed on that chapter of history, CWL competition is already building up a fresh head of steam!
It’s time for the Winter 2023 season, and now with the leaderboards wiped clean there’s a massive opportunity for new challengers to step up and make their names. Let’s quickly set the scene: what games are featured as major titles, which tournaments will earn you points to climb the CWL leaderboards, and what is it all leading up to come the end of the year!?
Another big year of Battle Arena Melbourne is in the books, and that means it’s time to celebrate our new Major champions!
#BAM13 packed 1018 Unique attendees into full halls at Moonee Valley Racecourse, with over 40 different fighting games on display across 7 different tournament stages! Our wonderful TOs worked hard to fit the maximum variety of tournaments into a three day event – and the result is that we can now add the following names to the honour roll of Battle Arena Melbourne top finishes!
It’s barely more than a month until the latest and greatest incarnation of Battle Arena Melbourne – #BAM13.
BAM is Australia’s biggest FGC event of the year, so naturally it also needs to show off the biggest range of different fighting games. After all, if you’re gonna find enough people anywhere to fill a bracket for your favourite niche fighter, it’s going to be at BAM!
To round out our lineup, here is our final game announcement for #BAM13!
As our games list is now at full capacity, community submissions have been closed early. Massive thank you to everybody that submitted! pic.twitter.com/vVGny3nueQ
