This May 22-24, fighting game players around the country will gather for the National Major event, BATTLE ARENA MELBOURNE 7. Among the epic competitions will be the first large scale tournament for MORTAL KOMBAT X in Australia.

BAM7 will feature a themed tournament play area for the game, the MORTAL KOMBAT PIT. The atmosphere of the Outworld comes to Melbourne, in this R18+ space.

MAJOR PRIZE POOL WITH $1,000 POT BONUS

As the first major competitive event for MORTAL KOMBAT X, WB Games Australia, our Major Sponsor, is providing an amazing prize pool of must-have Mortal Kombat merchandise for participants across the beginner level to top players. To entice the very best players to strive for the top 8, there is a Cash Prize Pool Bonus of $1,000.

December 2014 Final Ranking Battle Results and Points Tally

The December Ranking Battle results are in! We had an amazing turnout of 115 attendees. The Ranking results are added below. We will update soon with the Smash Bros results.

Ranking season medals were awarded to the top points getters in Smash 4, Smash Melee, Ultra Street Fighter 4, Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate and Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown

There were some great finals prizes given away thanks to Benq, Madman, Five Star Games and Mindscape Games. Plus thanks to Mindscape and Tecmo Koei we had a preview play of the new Dead or Alive 5 Last Round. What a packed event!

Play the next gen version on PS4 this Weekend!

That’s right, you’ll be able to play the new version of Dead or Alive 5 on PS4 ahead of its release in 2015! Make sure you head to the December Ranking Battle Finals this Sunday 14th and you can be among the first to play the next generation edition of the 3D fighter.

Featuring two new characters, new stages and environment effects, this looks to build on the solid work put in on DOA5 Ultimate.

Plus, Mindscape Games are giving away copies of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, the DOA soundtrack, and Kasumi mousepads. There’s been a good run of tournaments for DOA5U this year at Ranking Battles, with a Ranking Season Medal Winner to be decided this Sunday.

Tournaments, casual games, tips and training – CouchWarriors Ranking Battles are a day long fighters festival! Newcomers are welcome as well as tournament veterans. This is the traditional CouchWarriors event since formation in 2006!

This month we’ve got the first Super Smash Bros WiiU open tournament plus we find out who will finish at the top of the table in all of the ranked fighting games for this year!

Come play or BYO your setup. Enjoy some casuals or get in your tournament practice going with our structured events.

There will be Ranking Battle Medals for the top of table of Ultra Street Fighter 4, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, Smash Bros Melee and Smash 4 (3DS and WiiU Rankings combined), See the current Rankings Table

BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER
There is a BYOC / Sticks policy for the event. Our friendly players will often loan a controller, but we ask you to please bring your run! Also, while we should have enough equipment to run the tournaments, everyone will appreciate anybody who can bring setups for casuals and DIYs.

The venue is a short walk from Moreland Train Station, Sydney Road Tram, and there is ample parking at the venue . It’s just off Sydney Rd, before Moreland Rd.

Battle Arena Melbourne 2014 Cosplay Competition

CouchWarriors and New Game Plus are happy to announce Battle Arena Melbourne’s official cosplay competition! Come down in your best fighting game costume for a chance to win some awesome prizes, thanks to Madman Entertainment, Plantronics Gaming, CouchWarriors and New Game Plus.

HOW TO ENTER

Simply come along to Battle Arena Melbourne on the Sunday 11^th of May! The cosplay parade will begin at 2:30pm, which will be streamed live to thousands of viewers around the world. Your costume will be judged by a panel of cosplay judges with many years of experience between them, and the winner will be announced then and there!

Prizes will be awarded to First Place, Runner Up and Audience Favourite.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand. There are bathrooms at the venue that can be used as change rooms.

RULES OF ENTRY

Must be a character from a fighting game. This includes games not played at Battle Arena Melbourne.
Can be a hand-made, assembled or bought costume. As long as you rock it!
No real weapons, please. Only wooden or plastic weapons allowed.
