Get ready – the road to Oceania’s most celebrated fighting game tournament starts now.
CouchWarriors have publicly announced the 2023 installment of Battle Arena Melbourne, BAM13, for the weekend of June 9th-11th.
There are so many exciting details still to come: the tournament lineup, prize pool, sponsorships, World Tour support, international visitors, featured artists, afterparty venue… just make sure you save those dates, and stay tuned for more announcements!
The FGC’s collective holiday hangover is fading away like the summer heat, and it’s time to dive back into the 2023 CouchWarriors League schedule! That schedule now includes The Game Expo Melbourne, which is set to be one of the first non-ranbat offline tournaments of the year.
Here are the dates and sign-up links for that, and all the other March CouchWarriors League events – both online and offline.
CouchWarriors League is officially back for 2023, announcing a new format and points system for the Summer and Winter championship seasons.
The 2023 format emphasizes more local and community events while pivoting the CWL Online schedule from weekly to monthly tournaments. The points awarded at each state’s monthly ranbats have been doubled, making them an even more important battleground for our championship hopefuls.
October’s events were the finish line of our CouchWarriors League points race, and with how fierce the competition has been this year that meant a ton more pressure on any leaderboard hopefuls.
CouchWarriors Crossup still looms as the season finale. But the points championship for each game is still a big prize – and for players who can’t travel to that event in person, the biggest one. With one more chance at the 2022 crown, who among them would muster the strength to seize it?
We continue the exhilarating race to the finish in this month’s CouchWarriors League schedule, with one more big event queued up to help ambitious players climb the leaderboards: Big Cheese 3.
This one matters most for our South Australian hopefuls, with a hometown Major to catch them up on all the points others have reaped from BAM 2022 and Dreamhack Melbourne. But there’s still regular ranbats and CWL Online monthlies running elsewhere, plus the Champions’ Challenge at PAX Aus – not a ranked event, but there will be sponsored prizes plus the new test build of Street Fighter 6!
Here are the dates and sign-up links for all October’s CouchWarriors League events – both online and offline.
In addition to our regular slate of ranking CouchWarriors League tournaments, September featured some of our biggest annual events all packed into one month. But the most intense experience was to be on the floor at the inaugural Dreamhack Melbourne, where 189 CWL competitors did battle in the middle of Rod Laver Arena!
Amid the thunderous noise from a gamut of different esports tournaments, we crowned Dreamhack champions for Street Fighter V, DNF Duel, Smash Ultimate and Guilty Gear: Strive. The weekend was capped off with a Tekken World Tour Prime Dojo tournament, which also doubled as a CWL ranking event in its own right. Stakes were high, with a $1000 prize pool on offer for each game, and the arena atmosphere made for a truly unique tournament.
After a massive month of competition at the highest level Australia has to offer, CouchWarriors capped our September calendar with an appearance at Crunchyroll Expo Aus 2022!
There were no CWL ranking points to claim this time, as we opened up the Super Arcade for some old-fashioned walk-up challenges. But there were still plenty of prizes for those in attendance – and best of all, the first chance to play sets of Street Fighter 6 on Australian shores!
CouchWarriors League is starting off September with a bang, thanks to DreamHack Melbourne and its raft of CWL-ranking $1000 tournaments. The injection of some bonus leaderboard points into the system should keep things exciting as our top players race towards CouchWarriors CrossUp and the winter season finale.
For those who aren’t able to make it to Melbourne this weekend, never fear; there’s still all our regular ranbats and CWL Online events to shoot for! Here are the dates and sign-up links for all August’s CouchWarriors League events – both online and offline.
Traditionally a time of renewed energy in the season as players return from post-BAM hiatus, August’s CouchWarriors League events did not disappoint.
Exciting fresh names were spotted across the various Top 8’s, while the best of the best got a leg up on their rivals by scoring points both online and offline. Three of four leaderboard races were close enough to be swayed by a single big result, leading to a high-stakes month of competition…
DreamHack is bringing the world’s largest and most famous LAN event to Australian soil, and CouchWarriors will be right there in the thick of it!
Pride and prizes will be on the line all weekend long, with tournament brackets running for five of the biggest FGC titles. Enter for just $1 and walk out with $1000 – and the bragging rights of being a bonafide DreamHack champion.
If you’ve got your DreamHack tickets already, then sign up for these brackets on the start.gg page before the 1st of September. If you don’t – well, then you better get on and grab your pass quick so you can sign up. Or you can watch along all weekend on twitch.tv/couchwarriors!
